In March 2016, 12 brave souls took to the waters of the Hauraki Gulf to put their bodies on the line and raise funds for the Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
This 'non' event was put together by inspiring members of the community who shared a passion for long distance swimming and, of course, the rescue helicopter.
Together they raised over $35,000.
After every swimmer completed the swim safely in 2016, it was decided that it could become an official event from 2017 onward, giving others the opportunity to complete a bucket list 20km swim, right here in Auckland.
The event is a dedicated fundraiser for the Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter and all participants agree to raise money for this vital service using the Everydayhero Platform.
Chopper Swim Challenge is a fundraising event solely undertaken by private individuals on a volunteer basis. Its sole purpose is to raise funds for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter (ARHT).
